Meanwhile, after being forced out of my caddy, the Cruze RS has been awesome and made me happy. I have 2 really minor complaints with it, I’d call that a win. You shoulda put aside badge snobbery and gotten one of those.

To be fair, your Cadillac weighted a lot and wasn’t exactly fast or sport oriented.

boring yet probably more cost effective > getting a ride in a tow truck with your Audi.

Meh, I’m actually not sure which one I’d rather do.

It didn't weigh THAT much at all. And you're right. It wasn't. But that has nothing to do with the Cruze being a really good car.

I still think the 2.5 inline 5 was s good motor, although heavy and thirsty, it paired well with the old 5spd. RIP straight 5.

It’s more of what I’m used to, compared to what I have now than anything.

Like, after three Audis. I bought a Jetta.

Genuinely curious because you said you didn’t like the Fiesta ST. Was it purely out of brand bias or was it something else?

Too small, didn’t like how it looked, drove, not enough standard features for the price and insurance was expensive.

After a Cadillac, I got a Cruze. Our situations aren’t that different. Before you throw “the caddy was slow and heavy” at me again, it was probably the same weight if not lighter than your Audi and only a couple of tenths of a second slower to 60

Eh, seems nice enough. That’s what you get for having such narrow taste (the Jetta is definitely not at the top of its class). However, any B8.5 A4 would certainly have cost much more, if not initially, very soon thereafter. Coulda had a very nice B7, though!

Still, I wouldn’t have liked the Cruze any better than the Jetta.

The A6 was manual and had two turbochargers attached to it. It’s at least a couple hundred pounds lighter than the Cadillac.

Would a tune help? I know you can tweak a 1.8t pretty easily. It’s honestly a nice looking car. Maybe some wheels and a slight drop?

I used to own a B7 actually, very nice car.

Maybe, but I’d honestly rather not dump money into a car that I’m going to replace shortly.

You were instructed to “not” get on it?

I would instruct the dealer to kiss my ass.

So what are you planning to replace it with?

Five minutes later: “Ookay, let’s turn it around”

Would it kill them to fucking wipe the interior of the car down with a damp cloth or something!?!? That’s pretty nice though. Black on black is choice!

Next time you take it in for the transmission, have them write “customer suspects ________” on the repair order - bad synchros, bad whatever - that way you preserve your claim for when the warranty runs out. In other words, you asked them to fix it at, whatever, 10K, but they refused.

Take it in 3 times for the transmission, Get 3 invoices, and then you can start the lemon law process where VW would have to fully repurchase the car from you for what you paid, minus a small amount for the miles that you put on it.

You don’t even need an attorney. You can just file the paperwork with your state attorney general’s office. That’s what I did with my Elantra. The process took about a month and a half from start to finish after the car was in and out of the shop 5 or so times within 3 months.

Why is the Jetta a full second slower to 60 than my Golf with the same powertrain? Weird.

Agreed that the gearing they chose is garbage. Uneven spacing and generally geared too tall. Reverse engagement on mine is a bit odd too, I tend to find that if I keep a bit of force on the shifter toward the gate when I start to release the clutch it’ll just notch in a reassuring extra little bit. I may still raise the issue at the next service.

I wish I had those seats though, minus the white bits, which would get filthy. Mine are a bit short on bolstering, though not awful by any means.

Kinja'd!!!1

I honesty have to idea why that is.

I do have to force it in sometimes, but in general their gearing is off.

The white bits get really dirty, but only when I wear dark jeans. Which I no longer so because of that, haha.
